The trail ends at Bearwallow's beautiful mountaintop meadow; in summer, you will share the grassy bald with friendly grazing cows.

The Wildcat Rock Trail features a 100-foot waterfall, long-range views, caves and wildflowers.

Florence Nature Preserve offers a network of 5+ miles of hiking trails on 600 beautiful acres on the slopes of Little Pisgah Mountain. The preserve features pristine creeks and cascades, scenic rock outcrops, the ruins of an old homesite, and areas of old growth forest.

The climax of this trail is Blue Ridge Pastures, where the forests give way to a ridgeline pasture, revealing dramatic views of the Hickory Nut Gorge, Bearwallow Mountain, Little Pisgah Mountain, and in the distance the highest mountains in the eastern United States.
The Glenna Cabin by Gerton Getaways
Enjoy our newly renovated cozy cabin bordered by the Florence Preserve. Rich in history, come stay at this 100 year old cabin, named after Glenna Florence. (The Florences donated the 600 acres what is now the Florence Preserve). Walk out the front door to a trail on the Preserve or rest in front of the fire place to relax.
Our cozy space is newly renovated with 2 bedrooms, an upstairs loft and one bathroom. There is a new deck and hot tub, which is situated right above a creek (you can hear the water running while sitting under the stars). There is an outside fire pit with benches. Plus outside lighting along the path and the stairs. There are two picnic tables outside for dining. The beds are new with high thread count cotton sheets. You dont have to leave the property to access the trail system of the Florence Preserve. We offer plenty of privacy with indoor and outdoor space for relaxing and enjoying your time while in the mountains. Dog friendly with a pet fee!
The Konatoga by Gerton Getaways
Welcome to the Konatoga! Located aside the Florence Preserve, it is a newly renovated house suitable for multiple guests with a large amount of outdoor and indoor space to dine, relax and connect. Perfectly situated to access multiple different trails in Gerton w/in walking distance from the Florence Preserve. A short drive to Bearwallow mountain, Wildcat Rock & Ferguson Peak. Located in between Asheville & Lake Lure, it is a perfect destination for all you'd desire.
Come and enjoy this stylish and spacious house with plenty of indoor and yard space. Lots of outdoor games to play: horseshoes, croquet, corn hole and an outdoor fire pit. You can hear the Hickory Nut Creek as it runs through the front yard. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large dining room, fully stocked kitchen and a day room with a futon. Enjoy the indoor fire place in the cozy living room. The house offers anything a small or large group would need with easy access and an outdoor shower! There is a large hot tub on the back porch for use!
