1. Go Gamping
It’s camping - in style! The most popular option for glamping is with a company called, Asheville Glamping, they have two locations in Asheville. Their unique vacation rentals include: vintage trailers, airstreams, domes, yurts, tipi's, safari tents, and treehouses.
2. Check out the NC Arboretum
The North Carolina Aboretum is a 434-acre public garden with 10+ miles of hiking trails which connect into the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pigsah & Lake Powhatan. Don’t miss out on the Quilt Garden which, “incorporates the unique interpretation of traditional quilt block patterns with plants, representing the close ties between heritage crafts and gardening and the contemporary art and craft of quilting in the Southern Appalachian region. Designs change every two years and plants are changed out quarterly with the seasons.” - https://www.ncarboretum.org/
3. Tube the French Broad River
Tubing the French Broad River is a local tradition, and it’s in season from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend! The most popular option for this activity is, French Broad Outfitters, they supply adult and child inner tubes and cooler floats (for an extra $5).
4. Hike to Looking Glass Falls
Looking Glass Falls is located 36 miles Southwest of Downtown Asheville near Pisgah National Forest. The hike is 0.3 miles out and back and is ranked as an easy trail according to alltrails.com. This is a popular roadside waterfall and a must-see!
5. Friday Night Drum Circle in Pritchard Park
This Friday night local tradition starts around 6pm from April to October in Pritchard Park. Everyone is welcome to enjoy/play any time of drum/percussion instrument!
6. Hike Mount Mitchell
Mount Mitchell is located 34 miles Northeast of Downtown Asheville near Pisgah National Forest. The hike is 0.3 miles out and back and is ranked as an easy trail according to alltrails.com. This is a popular roadside waterfall and a must-see!
7. Tour a winery
Did you know that Asheville isn’t just Beer City? The city is also known for their wine! You can cross this one off your list along with exploring the Biltmore Estate within the same visit, included in your ticket to the Bilmore Estate is a wine tasting at the Biltmore Winery.
8. The Orange Peel
The Orange Peel is a popular and nationally renowned live music venue in Downtown Asheville. Fun fact: it was voted one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s Top 5 Rock Clubs in the country! Check out their website below for information on their upcoming shows.
